Skilled Visa

The Skilled visa of the Migration Program is designed to attract migrants who make a significant contribution to the Australian economy. Skilled migrants have very high participation rates in the workforce, helping to stimulate economic growth, which results in more jobs.

It includes the following streams:

Skilled Independent Visa

A points-based visa for individuals who do not have a sponsor or family member in Australia. Applicants are required to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) and have their skills assessed by a relevant authority. They must also score a minimum points on the points test, which takes into account factors such as age, English language proficiency, education, and work experience.

Skilled Nominated Visa

For individuals who have been nominated by a state or territory government in Australia. Applicants must meet the same eligibility requirements as the Skilled Independent visa, but they must also be nominated and score a minimum points on the points test.

Skilled Work Regional Visa

A temporary visa for individuals who have been nominated by a state or territory government or sponsored by an eligible family member. Applicants must also meet the same eligibility requirements as the Skilled Independent visa and score a minimum points on the points test.
